The turn-in system.

NOTE: this demo uses cs1114 as the course you are taking, python (.py) as the programming language and Fall 2009 as the current semester.
If you are taking a different course in a different language and different semester, select that course, extension and semester.
The names of the required files will most likely also be different.
(And your name is probably not John Doe as this demo assumes.)

PROBLEM: Most of the links and buttons on this page are supposed to be for-display-only but some of them are active.
SOLUTION: Don't click any links or buttons! (except the one for the Course Home Page)

Click the link to the turn-in system found on the course homepage.
You should see:

For now, your login using an email address.
As the Poly email system migrates or if we decide to use something else, the format and or content of this information my change.
For now, it's
yourusername@students.poly.edu
Your user name is typically is, all lowercase, the first letter in your first name, followed by the first 5 letters of last name (or as many as you have if it's less that 5 long), follow by a two digit number. Try 01 first. Then, if that doesn't work, try 02, and so forth.

Your password will start off in this system as your Poly ID.
This a seven digit number.
(You can change your password but the lab workers will not be able to get it for you if you forget it.).
If Poly doesn't think you are registered for this course, you won't be able to log in.

If you are John Doe here is what the form should look like after you've filled in the text boxes:

(you might be the second J Doe to attend Poly in which case you'll be jdoe02 - if you're the third: jdoe03 and so on)

You should see something like the following.
All the homeworks that are or were due are listed with their due dates.
Labs may or not be listed after rec01 but for now there should be a link for rec01.

Each time you want to submit another version of a work, you would click the link:
Upload a new version of this homework
Recall that we suggest that you upload your partially completed versions as you develop them (and don't forget to submit the final version!)

You can look at these files by clicking on them but you cannot change them directly here.
To make a change, do so in the .NET enviroment and submit your updated version.

Be VERY careful of downloading any of the archived files as you may WIPE OUT your current version with an old one!
DANGER, DANGER DANGER!!!

You had gotten to this page because want to upload a file for this work.

This is where it becomes very important that you remember where on your computer you stored your work.
You can either type it from memory or click the button and find it on your machine.
The lab workers can't tell you where you stored it.
Remember that you must use the correct filenames: hw##.py for source files and rec##.py for lab work.
The graders won't grade files with other filenames and you will get zeros for all incorrect submissions.

Also note that you will see "new version" even if this is the very first submission of this file. (In the example the student has already submitted one version.)

Here's what the form might look like when you've chosen the file:

Assuming you've chosen the correct file, hit the button.
You will be notified by email (if your email is correct in the Poly system) of the status of your upload.
Remember that you should upload ONLY .py files and must have them correctly named.
When the upload completes you'll be taken back to the previous page.
Note that the filename you must submitted has been added.
(The UploadID will be a larger number for the most recent upload. The date and time of the internal timestamp is also shown. This timestamp is used to check that your submission is not late.)
