Polytechnic Receives 3 Million Dollar "Scholarship for Service" Award -- Now Accepting Applications

Polytechnic University has received an NSF Federal Cyber Service "Scholarship for Service" (SFS) grant that provides financial aid to students wishing to pursue advanced studies in the field of information assurance and security. The scholarship program was created in response to a presidential directive addressing security challenges facing the nation. Currently there are only 10 schools in the country, with Polytechnic the only school in New York State, through which these scholarships are awarded.

Ten students will be awarded scholarships at Polytechnic each year starting Fall semester 2002. The scholarship covers full tuition and applicable academic fees, and provides for room and board expenses up to $8000 a year. In addition it also provides stipend of about $1000 a month for undergraduates and $1200 a month for graduates, and about $5000 worth of education related expense coverage such as computer, books and travel to conferences. The students will have internship opportunities with federal agencies, and upon graduation are required to work for the federal government on a basis of one year of service for each year of scholarship education received. Note that US Citizenship is required to qualify for this program.
