CS912: Web Protocols, Principles, and Applications:

This is a new graduate course on the technical foundations of the WWW, which is also open to advanced undergraduate students upon permission by the instructor. See the course page from the current offering for details.


CS912: Information Retrieval on The World Wide Web:

This is a graduate course on Web Search Technology, offered about once a year. It is also open to advanced undergraduate students upon permission by the instructor. The course covers the basics of search engine architecture, crawling, compression, indexing, and querying, as well as recent research on link analysis, ranking, web data mining, and related issues. CATT Short Course: Web Search Engines and Search Technology:

This one-day short course, offered periodically through the Center for Advanced Technology in Telecommunications (CATT) at Polytechnic University, gives a basic introduction into the architecture of web search tools and their internal workings, and provides a quick overview of recent academic research in the area.
